BØGEBJERG

On the outskirts of Østbirk, in a clearing within the forest, you find the luxurious glamping dome, BØGEBJERG. Here, you get the best of both worlds – being surrounded by beautiful nature, but without compromising on the comfort that follows high-quality, indoor facilities.

Lavish tranquillity in the beautiful nature of Østbirk

When staying at BØGEBJERG, you wake up every morning to a stunning view of Østbirk forest. In fact, throughout your stay, you are completely enveloped by the beauty of nature. However, unlike other nature accommodations, you don’t have to deal with all the hassle of rain seeping into your tent, or dirt creeping under your nails. Instead, you can just lean back and enjoy the feelings of well-being in your own little dome – the perfect place to escape the stress of everyday life.

Breakfast in bed – and a wilderness bath on the terrace

Everything is taken care of upon arrival, so you can start winding down straight away and leave your worries behind. The beds are made with fresh linens, ready for a night of easy dreaming – and after a good night’s sleep, you are all set for a delicious breakfast, made from local ingredients.

The dome accommodates four people – two sleeping spaces in the comfy living area, and two sleeping spaces in the bed loft where you can fall asleep, counting stars in the night sky. In the kitchenette, you'll find a small fridge and other essentials like cloths, tea towels, and a burner for cooking. The bathroom has a shower, shampoo, and a hairdryer – and fresh towels are laid out on the bed.

On cold days, you can amp up the cosy atmosphere by lighting the wood-burning stow, and there is also a heat pump installed, so the temperature always suits your needs. On long summer days, you can lounge in the hammock outside with a good book, listening to birds chirping away. Or, if you want to fully unwind, sinking into the wilderness bath on the terrace might just give you that moment of zen you have longed for.

Hikes with panoramic views and small farm shops

From the terrace, you can walk straight into the forest and all the way to the top of Bøgebjerg, which is 112 meters above sea level. Here, you get an excellent panoramic view with a glimpse of Denmark’s highest peaks, Yding Skovhøj, Møllehøj, and Ejer Bavnehøj. If you’re in the mood for a longer hike, you can continue further into the landscape, through the forest, or across the fields. The location is no more than 10 km from a range of small eateries and local farm shops, which you can visit if you’re out and about, exploring. At the site of Bøgebjerg, you will also find a fire pit where you can cook your own meals over an open fire.

Explore the Area

If you want to explore the area, you’re not far from The Uncovered Bridge (Den Genfundne Bro), a beautiful scenic area, with quite an interesting history. You’re also just a 15-minute drive from the award-winning Prison Museum in Horsens – or Klostermølle, a former paper mill with a Benedictine monastery-past, situated in the lovely area of Mossø.
