It doesn’t get much more romantic or escapist than this private overnight stay in the rolling landscape between Tvingstrup and Haldrup. The holiday apartment at Dyrekærhuset is spacious and offers a cosy atmosphere, where the whole family can gather for both indoor and outdoor activities. The white-painted wooden cabin is tastefully decorated in light colours, and you have all the essentials and facilities needed for a memorable experience. You can also stay in a shelter right at the edge of the forest with access to the house’s lovely outdoor amenities.
Dyrekærhuset's holiday apartment – ideal for families
In Dyrekærhuset's holiday apartment, you’ll find a charming and well-equipped setting for your vacation. Here, the whole family can gather in the living room, relax in the bedroom, or play in the activity hallway, which offers everything from table football to Lego. With space for six people and the option for extra beds, there’s plenty of room for both children and adults. The apartment is also equipped with Wi-Fi, Waoo TV, and Netflix, so you can enjoy cosy movie and game nights.
Breakfast can be purchased, and there’s also the option to order lunch and dinner, so you can focus on enjoying your holiday.
Small cabin – big experience
If you need a large house with plenty of space, this cabin might not be for you. Here, cosiness is paramount, and you’ll find it easy to connect with each other. The cabin is well-designed to make optimal use of its small space. The bedroom has a double bed with a bunk bed above, so there are a total of three sleeping spots.
There’s also a living room with a large, comfortable sofa bed and a TV for entertainment, as well as a small dining table.
Outside, there’s a lovely terrace with garden furniture and an outdoor spa (available for an additional fee). Cooking can be done in the outdoor kitchen, and there’s access to a bathroom.
Shelter with a glass roof
Enjoy an overnight stay in the open with a view of the stars in Dyrekærhuset’s unique shelter, situated on the edge of Dyrekærskoven. The shelter accommodates up to six people and must be booked in advance. As an overnight guest, you’ll have access to an outdoor kitchen, toilet and shower, terraces, and playground.
You’ll need to bring your own sleeping mat and sleeping bag or similar. Towels can be found in the bathroom.
Beautiful nature at your doorstep
Dyrekærhuset is beautifully situated as a small, hidden green oasis in an otherwise hilly farmland landscape. The large grounds offer plenty of space for children to play. There’s a trampoline, basketball hoop, football goals, swings, toys, a mini-village, a wilderness bath, and even a zipline from Dyrekærskoven Forest next to the property. Children can safely explore the natural surroundings of the little forest.
Close to Dyrekærhuset lies the summit Tremhøj, 100 meters high. Near Tremhøj, there is an archaeological museum, and close by, you’ll also find the manor Serridslevgaard, the visitor garden "Den Kreative Have," and the children’s visitor farm, Børnebondegården.
In the area, you’ll have a fine view of Horsens Fjord, located just a few kilometers away. Nearby, you’ll find the popular trail around Horsens Fjord and the Odder-Horsens Rail Trail. Dyrekærhuset is a great place to stay along this route.
From the cabin, it’s seven kilometers to the Blue Flag beach Husodde and ten to Horsens city center. You can reach Horsens on a pleasant walk through the Nørrestrand wildlife reserve.

Your payment for the stay goes to the SUELL Foundation, which supports disadvantaged children and youth. The SUELL Foundation offers grants for family mini-breaks.
