Inshore fishing at the south coast of Horsens Fjord
The peaceful southern coastline of Horsens Fjord offers a few interesting fishing spots, each with different characteristics and chances of catch depending on the season. We provide an overview of some of the best spots on this stretch.
Fishing at Borre Knob
Borre Knob is a distinctively long and narrow tongue that stretches about two kilometres into Horsens Fjord. It is a land of Cockaigne for anglers and offers great versatility. At the reef you are very close to the channel where you can fish on deep water with a strong current. Fishing from the tip of Borre Knob can prove quite effective when sea trout swim in and out of the fjord during spring and autumn as well as during garfish season.
The west coast of Borre Knob is a big area of particularly shallow water where you can wade a long way into the fjord and fish from small sandbars. From here you should fish in the direction of the many seaweed plants where sea trout tend to hang out. The west coast is never far away from the east coast on Borre Knob. On the east side you will find deeper water. It is probably the cove at the southeast part of Borre Knob that provides the best chances of a catch. This is a really good spot during winter.
Borre Knob is a popular spot. The tongue has plenty of coastline though, so you can always find a spot. You can park at Borre Knob Hotel which serves as a conference centre most of the year but offers private accommodation during the summer holiday. The beautiful hike to the end of the tongue is two kilometres long but the shallow area to the west is found close to the parking lot.
Fishing at Boller Forest
Boller Nederskov Forest is found close to Horsens and is home to Boller Castle. The forest goes all the way down to the coast where there is a pier and a bathing jetty. From the pier itself you can fish at relatively deep water. There is also a chance to catch eel here. To the right of the pier is a shallow area with a relatively flat but exciting ocean bed. You can fish over small rocks, mussel banks, and seaweed. There is a good chance of catching small sea trout during summer and winter while the big sea trout tend to come in during late autumn and winter.
Further east there are some bigger rocks which makes great water for sea trout fishing.
You can park at forest parking lot on the road Boller Slotsvej, 300 metres from the pier.
Fishing on Hjarnø
The island Hjarnø can easily be reached by ferry. The ferry sails more than 30 times a day, and it only takes five minutes. The island is not particularly big, and you can easily move around the island for a different fishing experience.

Fishing near Snaptun
Hundshage, the easternmost point on the south side of Horsens Fjord is located in Tønballe Forest east of Snaptun. The area between Hundshage and Snaptun Harbour is really good for fishing. Hundshage is a typical reef with a strong current and the chance to fish on deep water. There are plenty of sea trout and garfish during the autumn season. In the case of east wind, the water can be cloudy due to rocks and soil from the cliffs to the south.
The whole stretch west of Hundshage is recommendable, but some areas of the coastline are impassable. There is a good chance of catching large trout on low water Close to the harbour at Snaptun South Beach (Sydstrand) there is a small point from which you can fish over deepenings, mussel banks and seaweed belts. Winter and spring are especially favorable here.
The best chance of a catch is at Hundshage but you have to walk for a while to get there. Just follows the signs of The Coastal Path Snaptun-Juelsminde that start from the harbour. The beautiful hike out there is about two kilometres long through the forest. The hike to the spot on the south beach is about 400 metres.
