Ring Forest

Ring Forest is a large forest near the centre of the town Brædstrup. It offers great opportunities for walking along one of the marked trails, perhaps combined with a visit to the activity park. The forest's most famous resident is the troll Jensnej, created by Thomas Dambo.

The forest in the town

Ring Forest plays a big part in Brædstrup. Surrounding a large part of the town to the east, it provides a pleasant green space for walking and running for both residents and visitors. The forest is well connected to the town center via the Nature Trail Horsens-Silkeborg, the public park, and the activity park, offering activities for children as well as a dedicated dog area.

The activity park

On the edge of the forest closest to the town lies the new activity park, set in beautiful green surroundings. Here, there are playgrounds for children of all ages. Surrounded by the trees, you can try out the large Tarzan course and the new zipline.

There is also the option to spend the night outdoors in one of the two shelters in the activity park, which can be booked on this page.

Take a walk in the forest

Ring Forest is large enough for a good, long walk. There are five marked trails ranging from 2 to 3.8 kilometers. Each route is marked with a different color, and they can be combined to form longer walks if desired. Maps of the trails are available on information boards in the forest.

The popular walking and cycling route, the Horsens-Silkeborg Nature Trail, also known as Bryrupbanestien, runs through Ring Forest. This old railway trail can be accessed from the town’s central square, Banetorvet, and leads into the forest.

Along the way, don’t miss Brædstrup’s main attraction, the troll sculpture Jensnej, created by renowned artist Thomas Dambo. The troll is located close to the activity park, with signs in the park and along the Horsens-Silkeborg Nature Trail pointing in his direction.

The dog park

In the northern part of Ring Forest, you’ll find Brædstrup Dog Park, spanning four hectares. Here, dogs can run freely in natural surroundings. There are five entrances to the dog park. There is a parking lot on Østergade, but the dog park can also be accessed from Rosensgade and the Horsens-Silkeborg Nature Trail.

Access to the park

There are many entrances to the forest in and around Brædstrup. We recommend combining a visit to the forest with a stroll through the cozy town center and public park. In that case, you can park in the large parking lot at Banetorvet (Vestervangen/Søndergade) or in the small lot near the activity park, accessible from Skovvejen.

For easy access to and from the forest, there’s also parking at the rest area on Horsensvej, which has public restrooms.

Please note that Ring Forest is privately owned. There is public access to the forest, and visitors are welcome during daylight hours, but please stay on the paths and keep your dog on a leash outside the fenced dog area.
