Only a short walk from the centre of Horsens, you can visit the city’s new park, which is quite popular with children. The park has a big playground with lots of tools and equipment where the youngest members of the family can romp. There are also good facilities for relaxation, recreation, and games.

Visit Horsens’ new recreational hotspot

Are you in the mood for play, exercise, or relaxation in nature? Then set your GPS to Bjerrevej 20 where Horsens’ new, exciting park awaits. A landscape of soft hills welcomes you with a network of paths and lots of equipment and facilities which will ensure that you get a good experience no matter if you are going for a walk in the green surroundings, want to enjoy lunch in nature or blow off steam at the playing field.

The park has a parking lot with good space. A playground for small children can be found close to the parking lot as well as fun obstacles, toilets, information boards, and benches under roof and a picnic area where you can eat lunch. From here, you can easily watch the children as they play.

If you go for a walk on the paths in the park, you will pass several hammocks where you can relax in the sun. You will also pass a petanque court, a ball court, and an outdoor fitness area. The distinctive hills invite you to go for a climb. One of the hills is an excellent viewpoint with a view to the city centre. Afterwards you can slide back down or cross the suspension bridge between the hills.

From waste disposal site to nature

What do you do with a former refuse dump that has not been used for decades? You dump a quarter of a million tons of excess soil from the city’s many building projects and shape an exciting hilly landscape. Then you plant a lot of trees, flowers, and other plants, aiming to increase biodiversity and create an urban oasis. And finally, you build facilities and place equipment throughout the park so children and adults will want to visit. Well, that is how to create the city’s new park – 5½ hectare built for adventure, fun, and relaxation.

On a hike through Bakkelunden

A new popular hiking route, the Fjordmino, passes through Bakkelunden. This route leads all the way around the inlet Horsens Fjord and lets you visit the two islands Alrø and Hjarnø along the way. From the Bakkelunden parking lot you can follow the post signs with red arrows and go for a walk on the Planet Path. Here, you can admire the lovely nature and learn more about the solar system. From the parking lot there is only 250 metres to the start of the Planet Path – the sun.

If you choose to follow the post signs in the other direction, you will get to the centre and the train station.
