Hou Lystbådehavn (Marina)
This charming port is centrally located on East Jutland’s blue main road. With its excellent facilities and proximity to the area’s great experiences, it is the perfect destination for your sailing holiday.
A maritime centre for East Jutland
You will only just make it around the breakwater before you feel the very special atmosphere of the harbour. Tourists enjoying a meal by the quay, children catching crabs, the ferries to the islands of Tunø and Samsø that are constantly whizzing by, chilling at the barbecue areas, playing on the playground, life at the historic boatyard and queuing at the ice-cream kiosk.
Hou marina has everything a sailor demands – both in terms of facilities and atmosphere. So come along and put in, lean back and enjoy life.
Here, facilities are top-notch
The brand-new harbour service building has large bathrooms, a laundry room and a large, modern kitchen. Children can play on the fun playground while their parents barbecue at the barbecue areas. You can do your grocery shopping at the harbour at Brugsen and there are also eateries and an ice-cream kiosk. And when you want to explore the local area, you can borrow a bicycle.
Explore the area
Previously, Hou was a fishing village but, today, it is a charming tourist and port town with restaurants and specialty shops. The focal point of the town is the ferry port with several daily departures to both Tunø and Samsø. The harbour is immediately adjacent to the marina.
On the other side of the ferry port, you find the beach Hou Beach which is an excellent beach for bathing. From here, the beach continues uninterrupted northwards for many kilometres. If you feel like a hike, we can recommend the 8-kilometer-long walk to the beach of Saksild Beach. You can also walk along the coastal path in Hou that follows the beach on the way out and leads back through the town to the harbour.
If it is too chilly for a dip in the sea, you can visit the public pool Vandhalla.
Hou is located quite close to come of the major attractions of East Jutland as well as cities such as Odder, Aarhus and Horsens.
